Racism is the Virus

One man dies in the street, pleading for his life,
and overnight those streets erupt in anger at the injustice,
not merely for that dreadful moment, but for a lifetime of oppression.

One hundred k die from a virus, all innocent victims of a heartless affliction,
simply a balance of color shows more than die from one community than others.

Racism breeds decease, either visibly for all the earth to see,
or silently, hidden beneath the statistics and the excuses.

May the Spirit empower us to face this reality and non plough abroad.

Racism is every bit virulent as Covid-19,
infecting people who seem to have no outward symptoms,
until beliefs reveals their disease.

The vaccine for racism is justice, the cure is equality,
and the prevention is love.

Steven Charleston, a Choctaw elder & Episcopal bishop

A Blessing for Pandemic Times

As elders and Sages we walk in mindfulness with measured stride, both calm and alert.
We continue to open our hearts in connection to all beings during this time when we are asked to physically disconnect – allowing no distance but maintaining and growing the truthful connection of beloved.
We send healing blessings to all our loved ones and to those throughout the world who are or will be affected by the virus – that they recover quickly and fully.
We ask that our immune systems and that of all peoples be robust in response keeping united states healthy
Every bit we launder our hands we practise and so in prayer giving thanks for the approval of life
We share resource generously, including our kindness, compassion and deep listening, stepping into service without fear.
We remember to breathe securely and remain grounded, holding our fears gently, knowing they are a natural human response to threat.
We go a source of peace and comfort for others.
We step into each present moment facing the challenges, opening to new wisdom emerging and embracing all with courage and kindness, trusting in the presence of grace.
In the midst of all of that is occurring, we merits our power to exponentially spread a different pandemic – one of beloved, compassion, joy and peace, person by person, country by country to create a meliorate globe.
